I turned the grand old age of 29 a few days ago (3rd December if you want to mark your calendars for next year, okay thanks) and I got a huge surprise from my amazing girlfriend Emma. She told me we were going to go away for a bit – now any normal 29 year old would be thinking something like a night in a hotel and a fancy dinner – BUT NOT ME! I went to Disneyland Paris! YAAAAAY!
Now if you know me, you know that I am a huge kid at heart. I swear I am still about 13 in my head, I am obsessed with Aladdin and I wish I was a mermaid – so this trip was going to be the best thing EVER.
We flew there from Heathrow on a BA plane – it was my first time flying with BA and it won’t be the last. They were great from start to finish and truly worth the extra you would spend to fly with them rather than Easyjet or Monarch. I wanted to wear something nice and comfortable for travelling, but also kind of stylish because I wanted to just get on with my day after arriving at the hotel, so I chose this:
In my opinion, this outfit was perfect for travelling in because of the lightweight fabric, but also really stylish and on trend for this season with the mustard colouring of the dress. Check out the Topsy Curvy girls, they have some amazing stuff and super cheap too!
We stayed at the Dream Castle hotel, a 4 star hotel just outside of the main Disneyland Paris campus. It was only about 5 minutes away by the free shuttle that ran from early morning ’til after the park closed, so it was really handy! We got a cheeky little upgrade to a bigger room because it was my birthday – check out our view!
The hotel was gorgeous and the grounds were just as gorgeous as the hotel. Although it was geared towards families (lots of games and fun things for the kids to do!) we also thought it was super cool – mainly because we are both tiny children inside the bodies of women in their late 20’s. They also had a big statue of a king in the reception, which I took full advantage of:
We went for a walk around the Disney Village that night – it’s a village attached to Disneyland Paris that you DON’T need a ticket for. Perfect for us because we had 1 day passes and we wanted to use them the following day. We had dinner at Planet Hollywood (make sure you go for EARLY dinner and don’t do what we did, which was go for dinner just as the light show ended at the park!) which was nice enough – 2 cocktails each and 2 courses each totalled around 90 Euros.
We headed back to the hotel for an early night, ready for the main event the day after! We woke up relatively early, went for the buffet breakfast in the hotel (which is both free and very busy) wearing our PJ’s, sticking out like sore thumbs in the throngs of families that were all already dressed, ready to start the day. The breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of choice of both hot and cold food and drink.
Then I got ready – and dressed like A GORGEOUS CHUBBY MINNIE MOUSE!
Minnie Mouse Ears from Disneyland Paris Disney Village – £5.99
Red and White Polka Dot Dress from Lindy Bop – £34.99
Shrug from eBay (as before)
Belt from ASOS Curve (as before)
This wasn’t a cosplay outfit, this was SERIOUS DISNEY RELATED FASHION. I’ve reviewed this dress before (read it here) so you know that it is one of my most favourite dresses ever and it was perfect for this trip!
Here’s some pictures from our trip – let me know if you’re thinking of going and I’ll be happy to give you some tips!
