5 Top Tips for Savvy Sales Shopping

5 Top Tips for Savvy Sales Shopping

It’s the time of year just before Summer that all the Spring stock gets discounted down to make room for all the new fashions. Sale shopping can be a goddamn nightmare for plus size babes – I often wonder if brands save all the worst fitting stuff for sales time… – but if you are savvy enough, you can find yourself some gems that fit well and make your purse happy!

1 – Sort your search by NEW IN

Don’t get stuck with the dud stock – I always find the best bargains by sorting my screen by New In‘s if you are able to. ASOS Curve and Simply Be do this very well! In doing this, you will see the newest items that have slipped into the sale – you might even find yourself items that have been put in the sale by accident too!

2 – Look for staple items to wear again and again…

If you’re like me, you can get lost in the glamour of a sale. I’m terrible for buying pieces that I think “Oooh, that’s pretty I can wear it to ??? event…” and then never wear it again. I try and combat this by making outfit decisions around the piece I am about to buy – can I pair it with a pair of shoes? Does it go with my new coat? Can I wear it without tights? Always challenge yourself to buying something that you can style in many different ways to get the best use out of it.

3 – …but if you treat yourself, GO HARD

So you can save yourself a lot of money by getting those multi use items around sale time – and that truly is the best way of getting the most out of your cash. But if you’ve been eyeing up that dress  for a while now and all of a sudden it’s 70% off and you find yourself within the grasps of finally being able to afford it? GO FOR IT GIRL! Another rule I go by is if you can’t stop thinking about it, you HAVE to get it. Treat yourself to that absurdly gorgeous dress you’ll only wear once, why not? (listen, I know I’ve just contridicted myself, I never promised you that I’d make any sense…)

4 – Shop around

It’s really easy to get stuck looking at one site (I tend to park myself on ASOS and stay there) but don’t forget how many options we have these days. Yes, I know we have a while to go until we are the same as our thinner counterparts, but we have more choice now than ever – shop around and enjoy it ladies! Hit up Evans for basics, Lindy Bop for retro glam, George for loungewear… the list is endless!

5- Don’t forget about blogger sales!

It’s not always the shops that have the best sales – your friendly local plus size blogger often has blog sales too! I’ve ran a few wardrobe clear outs so far, on Depop mostly, but also on Facebook too. If you follow your favourite bloggers on social media, you’ll be able to be in the loop for sales and giveaways. We don’t just want you there to keep our numbers up – we want to give back to you too! Check out Depop and Facebook for sales too 🙂

Great post, although your tips seen straightforward, I often forget about it and usually stay away from shops when the sales are on. I will definitely be using your tips next time! 🙂

Great tips. I do most of my shopping online but I can implement these still.

Genius. I totally didn’t think that ‘new in’ was stuff newly added to sales. Just thought that was a term solely used for fresh stock. Definitely using these tips xx
