I have become obsessed with the 90’s once again. I say once again because when it actually was the 90’s, I was going through my childhood (4-14) so I wasn’t as fashion obsessed as I am now. It was all Spice Girls and hair mascara for me… mostly Spice Girls, I had sooooo much merch it was untrue!
I’ve taken to wearing cami dresses in my day to day life like, all the time. Always paired with a choker and a dark lippy (and not pink and white eyeliner like 14 year old me used to wear) – can anyone remember Heather Shimmer shades of lippy?! Most of my cami dresses are plain, so when I saw this beauty at Simply Be I just HAD to have it – welcome to my wardrobe Miss Strappy Lace Cami Dress!
So knowing Simply Be’s sizing, I sized up for this dress and I am wearing a 24. It’s still a touch too tight on my hips and boobs, and I would have liked it a bit more floaty but I think it does the job well. I love the ditzy flower print coupled with the white lace detailing – ultimate 90’s vibes there! I wish the neckline was a little bit lower (I like to let the girls breathe) but it’s not stifling, so I think it’s wearable. I’m 5’7″ and this sits just above knee length on me.
The fabric is a very light, thin cotton which has no stretch, despite an elasticated back. I was hoping this would be slightly baggy on me so I could wear a T shirt underneath for when the weather gets colder, but I don’t think I could do that with the dress how it is. I paired this with a choker I got from River Island (£8) – I had to add some links to the chain to get it to fit me so if you’re fat necked like me, be wary of that (ASOS Curve do some great plus size chokers, as do Boohoo Plus). My shoes are from Boohoo (£28 just restocked in all sizes!) – although they are not billed as wide fit shoes, I have very wide feet and these are SO comfortable on me.
