Defying Gravity: Curvy Kate Luxe Strapless Bra

Defying Gravity: Curvy Kate Luxe Strapless Bra

Before I burst into a Wicked inspired musical interlude, I need to share with you the best underwear I have ever had the pleasure of wearing. You might remember my post about trying to find my bra size and how much of an epic fail it was. I know you’ve been super excited to find out the epic conclusion to this cautionary tale (lol yeah right) so I am here to tell you:

So it turns out I have one boob that is a whole cup size bigger than the other one. My boobs don’t look equally perfect in *any* bra because of this, but what I have found is that I tend to wear either a 38H or 38HH depending on the fit and make of the bra. My favourite bras so far have come from a brand called Curvy Kate. As I type this, I am enjoying a whole new realm of comfort in a Princess Balconette bra in a size 38HH (you can buy that here) that not only makes my tatas look perky and round and yummy (I almost motorboated myself – UrbanDictonary it) but the central gore FINALLY sits flat to my chest and provides incredible back support. Cue random mirror selfie with hair in a towel:

Anyway, I digress – the real reason I have you here is because I have found the holy grail bra that all busty girls search for and seldom find. It’s with excited legs and high pitched screams that I introduce to you the Curvy Kate Luxe Strapless Bra!

I know what you’re thinking, how the living shit are my boobs looking so perky without any strap support what-so-ever? It isn’t magic or wizardry (I promise, I checked), it’s this glorious bra! I’m wearing a size 38H in this picture, but the babes at Curvy Kate were nice enough to send me a 38HH and a 36HH to try to see what the best fit was. There are cute little button and bow details on the central gore as well as a lovely pinstripe effect. The back is super wide and has a 4 hook and eye fastening which is great to hold me all in! I think some of the lower cup sizes have 3 hook and eye fastenings instead. They come with detachable straps so you can wear it as a normal bra, or even wear it as a cross back or one shoulder!

I couldn’t get the 36HH on, so that was a no go (damn my wide back!) and the 38HH, although it fit my one bigger boob normally, I didn’t have the uplift or comfort that I had from the 38H. Yes, my bigger boob is a tiny bit squished in it but it is not uncomfortable, nor do I feel like I’m about to spill out of it. The back is tighter than my regular bra – something that you will have to get used to the idea of if you are wearing a strapless bra. I gave it a good stretch before I put it on and for the first go I got my girlfriend to help me into it but now I’ve worn it a bit, it’s a lot easier to put on myself. Remember, your support comes from the band of the bra. They say that you only get around 20% of your support from your straps, so take that into consideration and you can understand why the band needs to be a bit more snug than usual. You won’t have the same level of comfort you get from your every day bra, but it is by no means uncomfortable.

Now, because I am fat, I have fat and I am a lover of my fat, you will see that this bra appears to dig in to my chubby bits. I can assure you, this is just because I have back fat. It’s not uncomfortable and I have worn this all day without any complaints at all. The cups are padded and feel lovely and smooth, covered in a soft almost satin-y fabric. The central gore doesn’t sit flat to my chest but it is VERY close to doing so. I can forgive this for the amount of uplift this gives to me!

So to summarise – if you have a large cup size and you’ve always wanted to wear strapless tops or bardot necklines, the Curvy Kate Luxe Strapless is your holy grail bra. Available in 28-38 DD-J with more back sizes on the horizon (they are perfecting it for larger back sizes, so have patience!).

Will you be adding the Curvy Kate Luxe Strapless to your wardrobe?
