I’m a Fashion Magpie (yes, I know I said I was a Fashion Salmon before, but that’s only when I’m in jumpsuit mode!), and when something new and shiny comes into our big fat fashion world, my eyes light up with actual glee. On 1st July, the plus size world was treated to a brand new premium brand.
If you already know about it’s sister brand Phase Eight, you’ll be able to expect premium fabrics, hand painted prints, some seriously blingy embellishments and shapes to flatter and compliment our curvy shapes like you wouldn’t believe! My partner has a gorgeous Phase Eight dress that I wish came in plus-sizes, so when I heard there was going to be a whole new premium brand just for us fat princesses I may have done a little excited dance! (no photo evidence, soz!)
Their new website is in a classic monochrome style, which gives a little nod to their promise to give us classic and premium items that we can wear again and again. The only one criticism I have is that the models they have used are at the smaller end of plus-size… I can’t wait to see some larger ladies rocking this brand!
What’s also quite exciting is that this brand isn’t just online – you’ll be able to find Studio 8 on the high street in John Lewis, Debenhams and House of Frazer stores around the country! Premium plus-size fashion right on the high street – hallelujah!
Their inaugural Autumn/Winter collection is full of wearable, classic items that will take you all the way through the seasons and include some seriously glitzy items. How better to get to know this brand than going through their entire collection with a fine tooth comb! But that’s my job, and I’ve narrowed down my favourites, so now I want to take you through my wish list from Studio 8. (pssst… there’s the chance to win £500 to spend with Studio 8 for the first 100 customers who place an order…go get em!)
Surprise, surprise – my first piece from this new collection is this glorious jumpsuit. By now, you’ll know that I am the self-proclaimed #QueenOfJumpsuits and I tend to gravitate towards any that I find. I find a jumpsuit can be dressed up and down, but this jumpsuit is just full on GLAMOUR. The draping at the sides and relaxed fabric in the stomach area means that this piece will be ultra flattering for all shapes (especially those who like to hide their tummies – I’m looking at you Simply Be trolls!). I would style this with some strappy metallic heels, a silver clutch and a camel coat for a real night on the town kind of look! As you can tell, I am drooling currently as I write this…clean up on aisle me?!
LOOK AT THIS DRESS. JUST LOOK AT IT. The shimmery fabric and the hand painted rose print just goes so well together and with the gathered fabric at the top accentuating your waist and décolletage, this dress would make anyone stand out from the crowd. I would wear this on a hazy summers night out to the nearest beer garden with sandals and a smile, or you could cosy it up with opaque tights and ankle boots for a night out at the theatre. This dress is also very office worthy – perhaps wear it on the day you have a big presentation to nail so you look like an UTTER SUPERSTAR.
Yes I know it’s far too hot to think about coats, but this is not just a coat. This is a cape coat with short sleeves and a little flappy bit at the back for your giant bum (or my giant bum, should I say). Perfect for those Autumn nights when the weather can’t quite make up its mind…or the summer nights, for the same reason really! Just looking at this coat makes me feel cosy, and thanks to the check print fabric and gorgeous neckline, this will always be fashionable.
So what do you think ladies? Are you going to be giving this brand a try? Take a look through the whole collection HERE and let me know what you think!
