Payday came around and I literally could not wait to fill my basket on my FIRST EVER Simply Be order! I’d heard so many good things about the fit of their own range as well as the sheer amount of choice for us fat babes that I just had to give it a go myself.
I already knew exactly what I wanted to buy – I’d done a bit of window shopping (is it still called window shopping if I’m online? Maybe we should come up with another euphemism for that – Laptop Looking? PC Peering?) beforehand so I knew where I wanted to go. The first thing in my basket was the amazing jumpsuit I have blogged about time and time again. I also tried out the Rosie super skinny jeans in Indigo Acid wash, some pointed strappy shoes and some white toe post sandals.
When the jumpsuit came, I initially panicked about how it would look on me. Jumpsuits and I have a tempestuous relationship – some look amazing, some just make me look like a teletubby on steroids. I played it safe and went for a size up in these, but truthfully, I think I could have stuck to my normal size. The fit is roomy, comfortable and casual.
I’m not massively comfortable with having such thin straps – my shoulders are not my favourite things, so I would have preferred if the item had more of a cap sleeve to it. As I went a size above my normal size, the gathering didn’t really do anything for me, so I would probably stick on a belt with this just to gather it in at the waist a bit more. Other than this, however, the jumpsuit was so comfortable to wear, lots of room to move around and wasn’t restricting in the slightest.
I chucked on a black New Look cardigan with this just to make my arms feel better – I still feel like it looks good with the cardi, what do you think?
One of the things I didn’t notice when I bought the item is that there are a row of press-stud buttons on the top of the jumpsuit. I don’t really see the point in these, and to be honest Simply Be didn’t do a grand job of illustrating the press studs on the item description. I don’t think this would have affected my decision to buy the item though, because I just fell in love with the bright print!
Having a whale of a time taking photos for this outfit I whacked out my very best catalogue pose – I call this one “Cornish Seaside”…
And of course with this being a jumpsuit, I just had to test out the name – I mean, what is a Jumpsuit if you can’t bloody jump in it?! Here is my general majestic body leaping through the air like a Fashion Salmon.
But of course it wasn’t all Jumpsuit related joy – I wanted to try out a pair of jeans. I had seen Danielle Vanier wearing a pair of the Rosie Super Skinny indigo acid wash jeans and she looked smoking hot, so I knew I wanted to give them a go myself!
Again, down to fear on my own part, I sized up in these, I’m comfortable in them though, so I think I made the right choice in sizing up. I think if I went for my normal size, I might have felt the waistband cutting in a bit too much but I do currently have the annoying gap at the back of my jeans just over my bum, so a belt is needed.
I’ve not worn blue jeans since I was in secondary school, so this was a big change for me. Initially, I didn’t really like them. I’m not afraid to try new things, however I was just not used to being so casual. I even went as far as writing out the returns form for them, but I decided to give them another go when Emma was here for a second opinion, and I am so glad I did!
I styled the jeans with my trusty Boohoo Plus black slouch tshirt and my old Forever 21+ faux leather jacket. I tried to dress this up a little too by pairing it with a red lip and a nice statement necklace from River Island too.
I’m very glad I didn’t give up on these jeans! I love how they look on me, and although my tiny stubby legs aren’t the best things on me, I still love the shape they give, especially the little nippy ankles! I would definitely buy these again, and I’m even thinking of getting the lighter blue ones, just to try them out!
Over the weekend, I also went to Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Norwich. I was so lucky to get tickets for the Saturday and I saw some amazing acts such as Snoop Dogg, Charlie XCX, Fall Out Boy, Ben Howard and Florence and the Machine. Florence was by far my fave but getting in the packed out tent for Snoop Dogg was such a highlight!
It got really sunny when I was there, so I purchased some cheapy sunglasses from a stall. I think I might love them though…!
So what do you think of my new purchases? How would you style them? I’d love to hear from you!
Hope you all had an amazing weekend 🙂
