At the weekend, I was lucky enough to find myself invited to a party arranged by Anesis TV, a new online beauty TV channel, and Blogging Gals – a community for blogger women to connect and work together. It was to be a red carpet affair with champagne, limo rides and goodie bags – needless to say I was super excited! My camera was having a bit of a moment though, so some of these photos are a bit rubbish in quality – sorry!
This was an event for bloggers of all areas, but mostly beauty bloggers and fashion bloggers. I think I might have been the only plus size blogger there, so I had a major panic when thinking about what to wear! I’d never been to a red carpet event before so it was all quite new for me.
I ummed and aahed about whether or not to wear a dress, but I settled on this gorgeous jumpsuit from Boohoo + and I teamed it with my new favourite clutch bag from the ASOS x Wall’s range:
It was a brave thing for me to go out without any kind of arm covering, but I felt like a million bucks in this jumpsuit (and we all know how I love a jumpsuit!). I was happy I chose those because it decided to chuck it down just before I went out and this kept me comfortable and warm without being too warm. I sized up in the jumpsuit and it was far too roomy up top. I could have done with a size smaller, but then I think the legs would have been too tight and the material is quite slinky, as it mentioned. I also bought some heels, but I wasn’t brave enough to put them on. I’ll wear them soon though so look out for them on a future blog post!
My gorgeous friend Jennie who writes a blog about London life and events managed to bag a last minute invite, and I’d been chatting to some of the other girls before the night started on Twitter so I was super happy to be hanging out with these gorgeous ladies!
We decided to take advantage of the limo drop off service – which unfortunately was the let down of the night – so we all piled in together and got excited for the event. The limo was running late and when we did get in it, we were in it for a grand total of 1 minute before we were dropped off around the corner from the venue. This was the only shot I got of the limo because of the time constraints – check out that champagne!
When we got to the event, there was a red carpet and a paparazzi board (it probably has a proper name, but that’s what I’m calling it so ner) so naturally we stopped for photos! My lovely vlogger friend Monique from Solelysentials joined Jennie and I all night and we had such a ball – you should check out her channel and subscribe! Here’s some red carpet moments:
So once we had far too much fun talking to the photographers and being silly in front of the paparazzi board, it was time to join the growing horde inside the venue! The party was held inside Anesis Spa, the company launching the online channel. The event was sponsored by Laurent Perrier champagne so there was lots of bubbly around as well as some amazing canapes and lots of yummy juice from Glo Juice on offer. It was a lovely night to make some new blogger friends and generally do a bit of networking. Zaineb from the Blogging Gals looked stunning and even though she was feeling super poorly all night, she did an amazing job and ran the night like a true #girlboss would. It was amazing to talk to her and listen to her views on the blogging community.
There was a giveaway during the night for a Benefit make up set, a paid of Linzi Shoes and a Necklace from Aura Jewellery but I wasn’t lucky enough to win any of the prizes on offer. Anesis TV were also looking for the face of their new online channel and were interviewing vloggers during the night, but as I exclaimed when they announced it, I’m a writer not a face person – that made a few of the girls around me giggle, the Northerner in me coming out at posh events!
At the end of the night we were presented goodie bags featuring gifts from Wella Professional, HD Brows, Aura Jewellery and other amazing brands – I felt like a proper little celebrity! It was so nice to hang out with some more bloggers and exchange experiences and tips as well as having a good old gossip. Jennie, Monique and I ended the night down the road in Byron Burger planning our next get together and chatting about West Indian food (I need some of that bread you mentioned girls!).
It was such a good night, I would recommend any fellow bloggers to go to any other #blogginggalsparty that is arranged because it was an absolute ball! It was especially nice for me – I was the only plus-size blogger at the event but I felt very included and it was lovely to talk about our community with people from a different perspective.
