Two of my favourite people got married recently and I wanted to have the wedding guest dress to end all wedding guest dresses on hand for me to wear. I know, I know, you can’t upstage the bride (or brides, in this case) and I certainly didn’t – they both looked absolutely INCREDIBLE – but in this dress, you can certainly come close!
I was lucky to grab this gorgeous hand-embroidered dress by House of Magpie at the Navabi blogger event earlier on this year and I am absolutely over the moon to finally wear it and give it the platform it deserves!
I loved loved LOVED this dress! It was so floaty and pretty, which is a miracle because the dress itself is SO heavy! The fabric is ridiculously thick and luxurious and the hand stitched beading is in the prettiest pattern – it kind of reminds me of the patterns that Mary Katrantzou has used in her recent romantic story during her S/S campaign this year. The sleeves were made of all chiffon but still had the beautiful beading on, so it was still super luxe whilst being floaty and gorgeous.
I wore this in a size 24 because my usual size (a 22) was far too small across the bust. This was also just touching too tight across the bust too, but it was far better than my regular size. There is no stretch in this garment at all, something to keep in mind if you are going to buy it. I teamed it with a bright pink clutch bag from Yours Clothing that I am in LOVE with – it has an inner zip as well as the fold over and has three compartments inside it. It wasn’t too bulky, and it fit both mine and Em’s stuff in for the day.
And of course this wouldn’t be a post about wedding fashion if I didn’t show you what my date was wearing and what the brides were wearing!
