I hope you saw my last holiday related post wearing River Island Plus – if not, why don’t you give it a read? As you know, I’ve recently been on holiday and the babes at River Island sent me some pieces to wear and review. Here’s the second piece they sent – this gorgeous cream bardot lace frill dress!

Now I don’t usually do lace – it doesn’t always go well with the myriad of tattoos I have and it’s a tad too pretty pretty for me, but I was actually really surprised by how gorgeous this dress looked on me! I think the bardot neckline really works with my tattoos and frames them well. The lace pattern is larger too, which helps!
The main frill is long enough to drape over my mahoosive bazoomas as well and if you’re fond of your shoulders but not your upper arms, this drapes so very nicely over your chubby upper arm bits whilst keeping you feeling bright and breezy.
My one criticism with this dress is that other than the neckline which doesn’t ride up or down (thank you Gods of Bardot!), the rest of the dress isn’t very fitted and just hangs. I would have preferred if it were shaped into my waist and hips a bit more, but saying that, it does mean the dress is nice and light and doesn’t stick to you on a hot summer night.
As you can see, the underdress hits you just above the knee, but the lace drapes over a slight bit more too – another clever trick of this dress if you are not comfortable with a mini hemline. I’m 5’7″ and this hits me just on the knee, so taller ladies may find it a bit shorter.
