I recently got invited to a launch party for a new clothing and accessory brand called Candy Clothing. The theme was Black and White Liquorice so I knew I needed to get to shopping for it.
Now being a pseudo-goth, I have a lot of black clothing. Now when I say a lot, think of what a lot means to you…and then double it. I am the queen of darkness, in more ways than one. When it comes to virginal white however, I literally own two singular tops – one from Forever 21+ and the other from Boohoo+. Make of that what you will.
I actually first went to Forever 21 in Stratford Westfield to find something nice, bright and white to wear. I was actually really surprised that they have spruced up the plus size area (which is a lot bigger than most stores, let me tell you!). I was so impressed, I took this photo of their lovely monogram section:
Lots of lovely black and white there! I didn’t find anything quite smart enough for what I wanted, so I headed across to New Look. Now I was already dreading going in there. If you’ve never been into the New Look in Stratford Westfield let me try and paint you a picture. Basically, GIANT STORE. Two whole floors of fashion, accessories and shoes. Half a floor dedicated to men’s clothing. 4 rails, at the very very back of the store on the top floor no less, of plus size clothing. I already geared myself up for the least amount of choice in a store ever.
I was pleasantly surprised this time however. It’s a bit hit and miss in that store – sometimes there’s literally everything black and a couple of shapeless tshirts, but this time there appeared to be a bit more colour and more choice! Not good for this shopping trip however – I needed something monochrome immediately. A bit of digging later, and I found THIS:
Say hello to my little friend! This white sleeveless duster jacket was exactly the pop of white that I wanted and needed. I also went hunting for some white plimsole style chunky heel boots a la Danielle Vanier to really complete this look but alas it was not meant to be!
I teamed this duster jacket with black leggings, a black cami top and my chunky ass black platform ankle boots. But it needed something a little bit more…
So you might have seen this on the post before, but I just wanted to give it its own little highlight because it is the world’s prettiest clutch bag.
My ASOS x Walls clutch bag makes me so happy. It brightens up all of my outfits, has a great big chunky zip to stop all my crap falling out when I decide to fling it across a table and not only that, it houses all my random crap too! And doesn’t feel bulky with it! Hallelujah to the fashion goddesses for creating this masterpiece.
I wore my favourite Make Up Revolution Velvet Lip Lacquer in I Would Lie For You which stays in place alllllll night (and the next morning if you forget to take it off). I’ve just placed an order with Freedom Make Up with some similar products, so I’ll tell you all about those soon too.
You’ll notice my nails are painted white which is a Models Own Hyper Gel shade – I’ve not got the bottle to hand, but it was £5 from their stall in Stratford Westfield.
What do you think? Would you have styled this any differently?
