I’ve been a bit quiet on the old blogging front for the past couple of days. I’d had a pretty stressful time – work was busy, plans I had made for my best friend’s wedding were thrown into disarray and to top it all off, a very good friend of mine found herself in hospital for an entire day yet still remains in pain! *sigh*
But I like to think that bad things get out of the way just before some really good stuff takes place, so I’m going to talk about three awesome things that are coming up and remind myself that, actually, things are pretty amazing. Plus just as bad things come in threes, so do the good things!
Number 1 – The arrival of this beauty!
So I’ve been lusting after the Lady Voluptuous range by Georgina Horne and Lady V London for a while. George knows vintage style and patterns like the back of her hand, and being a curvy woman herself I just knew her range would be cut perfectly for the fuller figure. When Lady Voluptuous released this range of gorgeous vintage length circle skirts, I just KNEW I had to have one! Ever since clapping my eyes on the Saint Laurent lip print wrap dress a few years ago, I have obsessed over finding the perfect lip print dress or top or skirt or anything really!
I hadn’t found anything that met the exact vision I had in my head of what I wanted my version to look like until I laid eyes on this gorgeous skirt!
I’m so looking forward to styling this! Unfortunately, I’ll have to wait until after my holiday to wear and review this (mostly because the sending time said it would be 3 days, so I had it sent to work, however about an hour after I placed my order I got a despatched notice, so I could really have got it in time! Boo!) but I am so excited. I know exactly what I’m going to put with it, how to style my hair and what shade of lippy to have… exciting!
Number 2 – SANTORINI!!
In just over 2 days, I will be horizontal on a black sand beach with a cocktail in my hand and a bikini on my fat body, laying next to the love of my life in Santorini for a week! I am so excited to go off on my holiday its untrue. My wardrobe is pretty much already packed and ready to go and I’m excited to chuck on my myriad of maxi dresses, kimonos and bikinis to show you all on the holiday edition of my blog!
I’m staying at this gorgeous hotel – the Santo Miramare Resort. We upgraded to a studio room and we went half board for the week too. I would have done All Inclusive if they offered it, but I’m happy with Half Board because it means we can still explore the local tavernas and restaurants.
Number 3 – Gigs, Gigs and more Gigs!
One of the things I love to do when I’m not adding to my wardrobe or jetting off and satisfying my wanderlust is to go to live music shows. I have a really eclectic taste in music. Although I’m covered in tattoos, have black hair and wear a lot of black, I’m not your typical alt girl. I can be found wiggling to anything that has an infectious beat and clever lyrics or any combination of the two.
Gig number 1 is the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend (Saturday) in Norwich! We were so lucky to get tickets to this – I used my iPhone to keep refreshing and eventually getting through to the ticketing site where I managed to bag two tickets for the Saturday where Florence and the Machine, Muse, Snoop Dogg and Fall Out Boy are playing, amongst many more!
Gig number 2 is FLEETWOOD MAC. Need I say any more? We got these tickets on Presale with O2 Priority Moments, and again we were really lucky to get them. It was first come first serve with the tickets, so we went with the first ones we were presented, which were Golden Circle tickets! They cost a small fortune, but they are Emma’s favourite band so it was worth watching her face light up when she figured out we would only be 5 rows from the front!
Gig number 3 is Capital FM Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium! This will be our second Summertime Ball, we went to Wembley last year as well so it’s super exciting to go again this year. The headliners for this are One Direction, so I’m expecting my eardrums to be pierced by thousands of screaming girls. I’m looking forward to seeing Sam Smith, Ne-Yo, Ariana Grande and Kelly Clarkson.
Gig number 4 is Brand New. Not many people outside of the alt/emo/rock scene know who Brand New are, but you should do. They make the most beautiful and emotional songs I have ever heard. I’ve been a Brand New fan for as long as I can remember and I’ve been lucky enough to see them once before. I always said if they ever tour again I would need to see them again and my beautiful girl made it possible to see them at Alexandra Palace later on this year. I am SO EXCITED! If you’re interested in the kind of music they do, go listen to Jesus Christ (A beautiful slow song about what happens when we die), The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot (my all-time favourite sob story break up song) and The Quiet Things That No-one Ever Knows (just an incredible amazing song!).
