Style Challenge: Denim And Sheer Attitude

Style Challenge: Denim And Sheer Attitude

Everyone knows I am a femme babe – I love nothing more than a cute dress and pinky hues (I mean this whole website is practically a girly fashion palace) but I’ve got a hidden, casual, slightly grumpy side. I sometimes find it mega hard to style myself when I am in a more casual mood – I’m not really a denim wearer and I tend to just stick to things I can easily chuck together, which ends up being a pretty dress and some leggings.

A few weeks ago I wrote about how mens plus size fashion is also a win for fat girls because it gives us a whole new set of androgynous choices for our fashion, and inspired by that I put together a bit of a style challenge: this denim and sheer attitude look! It’s a little out of my comfort zone, but when has fashion ever been about playing it safe?

I set myself a bit of a challenge to wear more denim this year. I sometimes find it really difficult to wear jeans that I feel comfortable in – my FUPA is a difficult thing for me to love and you really cannot hide from a tubby tummy in jeans. I guess I’ve just worn leggings for too long and making the change to denim was always a worrying thing to me. BUT – I found these jeans from Simply Be and I absolutely loved them the moment I put them on! If you’re the kind of person who wants nothing but comfort over anything else (lord knows I am) then you get that with these jeans AND you get some banging style too!

I went for the double denim broken up with a bit of sheer – wearing a sheer top is a powerful statement when you’re fat. You’re basically getting your whole stomach out without making yourself too bare. Its a great way of making a step into being a bit bolder with your fashion choices, so if you’re looking for a way to push yourself a bit more to be radical, go for sheer!

After trying out trainers in this post, I had to buy myself some Adidas trainers. These Adidas sneaks fit my wide feet really well and are super comfortable as well as mega trendy. Paired with my gorgeous Pearl Babes plus size choker (mine and my partner’s new business venture, go check us out!) and simple make up, this off-duty, full-attitude look is a new favourite for me!

I LOVE THIS LOOK. That dress/top in particular is amazing on you, and hurrah for being able to double up your denim in a way that still looks classy as all hell. Love the choker too!
