How to Rock The Frills and Florals Trend Without Trying

London Fashion Week is in full swing and although I’ve taken this season out, I’ve been glued to Instagram watching the catwalks and the street style through the eyes of those that attended. It’s mega clear that amongst other things, interesting sleeves, frills and florals are big hits for the coming season. And how do you rock the frills and floral trend without trying?

Now, I know not all of us are mega fashionistas. Lord knows I’m not an in-your-face trend setter like some of my fave bloggers are, I just like to pick and choose the bits I like and style ’em up however best I can! As much as I would love to waltz down the street in gigantic frilled sleeves and quirky outfits, I know that for my real life, I need to tone it down a tad and make it more wearable. It’s all about finding that holy grail outfit that can morph into whatever you want it to be whilst being on trend enough to turn heads.

Black Print Ruffle Tea Dress – Simply Be – £24.00

You need yourself a do-it-all outfit that you can dress up and dress down appropriately and I found my perfect one in this tea dress from Simply Be. Florals? Check. Wearability? Check. Frills? Check. Statement Sleeve? Check. It literally had it all. By finding an outfit that ticks all the boxes that is versatile, you will be able to look effortlessly fashionable without even trying.

Because this dress is a classic shape AND it’s made from a stretchy jersey fabric, it is scarily easy to wear and the subtle-yet-awesome frills on the sleeve and the shoulders nail both the statement sleeve trend and the frill trend all in one go. You can easily dress this up or down too – I’ve styled this in the way I would wear it to the office, but remove the leggings and boots and replace with trainers and a bomber jacket, and you’ve got a cute/casual look for the cinema or mate dates!

I bought this dress in my normal size which at the moment is around a 24. I’ve put on weight recently and I’ve been finding it tough to dress my new shape but this dress sits perfectly on me and I’m so happy with it. It’s definitely true-to-size so if you’re going to get one, don’t size up or down. The sleeves are roomy too so big armed girls need not worry!

The best thing about this dress is that there are around 5 different colour ways including this one, so if it works for you, try the other prints out too! At £24 for each dress, it’s a steal too. I’m well happy I tried this one out because I am in love with the dress! Hopefully you will be too!
