Just a quick side note before I launch myself into this post – in my first month as a blogger, I got over 1.5k individual views on my blog, 600+ Instagram followers and 500+ Twitter followers! YAY! More and more of you are following me on Bloglovin (thank you!) and my WordPress followers appear to be growing too. Thank you so so much for sticking with me so far, you’re really helping me achieve my dreams and I can’t be more grateful – thank you for being so amazing!
I’m not popular enough just yet to get automatic entry into glitzy fashion events though. I have dreams of attending new season reveals for popular brands like Simply Be and ASOS Curve, just like the ultra babes I look up to *sigh* – one day! For now, I like to live the life of a star studded fashionista through the eyes of social media.
This week it was Graduate Fashion Week. I follow the Instagram and Twitter accounts for Graduate Fashion Week and I have to say I’ve been glued to it this year! The gorgeous Danielle Vanier was there on behalf of George at Asda and it look like she had a ball – check out her Instagram and Twitter to see what she’s been up to! There’s been some serious talent emerging and some gorgeous prints and embellishments knocking around on Instagram and I’ve picked some of my favourites to show you!
I was absolutely in love with Manchester University’s offering this year. Both the male and female designers produced really strong prints and gorgeous colour clashes. Each piece has really wearable elements in them – I want a pair of those satinesque blue cigarette pants!
Being an East London girl, these pieces from East London Collective are just to die for. I need to get me a ‘Who are you wearing?’ clutch bag IMMEDIATELY. Wouldn’t that just go with everything?! The Luxe Sport look below has a very high fashion feel to it and the print reminds me of Art Deco mixed with Pucci – although the person who commented draws comparison with Kenzo, which I can also totally see!
University of Northampton absolutely nailed the 70’s trend. I’ve said before that I just don’t get this particular trend at all, but this piece speaks to me because of the gorgeous retro print clashing fabrics and that necklace is exquisite.
Centro Mexico have given me serious summer vibes with these floaty brights for the beach. I can see myself drinking cocktails on the beach in an orange mega spot headwrap and matching organza dress flowing behind me – this look is so wearable and desirable – a defo plus-size plus from me!
Watching the action unfold on Instagram and Twitter has only made me more determined and positive to get to where I want to be. With UK Plus Size Fashion Week coming up on 11-13 September (book it in your diaries ladies!) I will be doing whatever I can to get involved and bring the fashion directly to you, whether I’m lucky enough to attend or whether it’s via Social Media!
What did you think of Graduate Fashion Week? Was there any looks that stuck out for you?
